Peggy hides on the ledge outside her room as the agents search inside. Peggy is right behind him, and they see Whitney's bullet wounds heal before their eyes. They sneak out her window just before she comes back into the room. Later, Whitney has Dr. Wilkes read her research notes, but he still only thinks of her as a maniac. After his incredibly successful rescue, Rogers was drafted into the S.S.R. Howard Stark saved him from being hanged for treason. Det. She fires at the car that corners her, but the driver is Howard. Hunt cracks, and gives up Thomas Gloucester and Hugh Jones as members of the Council of Nine, a group of powerful industrialists who meet at the Arena Club and orchestrate national tragedies from behind the scenes. They find it suspicious. She decks him then runs. Since the details of the killer's style were only known to a few individuals, their suspicions turn to Det. Although the Council may have compromised the SSR, Peggy reasons they can still trust Rose, who despite lacking experience in the field has received the same training as the other agents. The break in, but soon realize someone else is there. She bumps into an African-American scientist, Dr. Jason Wilkes, who takes Peggy into his lab to test a synthetic wine he's developing. Pym then implied that he was willing to help in any future missions available to him. Peggy and the SSR agents pull up at the hangar Howard was being held just as he is taking off with the "Midnight Oil". Henry see the SSR's medical examiner, who shows them that not only is the corpse frozen through, but is also emitting a blue glow. She does with one phone call. He knocks her to the ground, but she's close enough to grab the dart and sticks him in the arm again. The next day, at the diner, Peggy intimidates a fellow customer being abusive towards, Angie. She radios the other officers, telling them not to fire on Det. At New York Bell Company she walks past the operators and waits for the secret door to open. Manfredi interrupts one torture session involving a large syringe to let her know one of Vernon Masters' men is there to see her. After, Jarvis finds her at a newsstand and tries again to apologize. Peggy, however, is adamant about seeing this case to the end. They leave the truck to see a dead body on top of it, a body Dottie threw out of a window. In the files Rogers studies, Peggy is reported as "Retired". She thinks one of those girls grew up and killed Agent Krezminski. While the rest of the team finishes building the device, Thompson shows up to offer his help, but they decide the best thing for him to do is collect their dinner orders. She hangs up without saying a word, and tries to console the visibly distraught Jarvis. Peggy, disguised as a psychiatrist, sees Dottie while she's imprisoned in the Cube. Thompson says they need them to repair the Gamma cannon for Whitney Frost. Henry has Jason at gunpoint under a bridge, and reveals that he disposed of Jane Scott's corpse and made her look like a victim of the Lady in the Lake Killer to revive the case. On the plane back, Thompson grudgingly admits that Peggy saved a lot of lives, including him. The next day, Peggy and Jarvis sneak into the storage facility through the ventilation to steal Jane Scott's body in hopes that the Zero Matter in her corpse is enough to make Dr. Wilkes tangible again. But her curiosity gets the better of her. The next day on the steps of city hall, Thompson declares that all charges against Howard have been dropped.
